Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) Centres

Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) Centres

Governed by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) is a national voluntary scheme which tests the current competence of individuals working in the retail motor industry, who are committed to an ethical code of conduct.

If you’re an automotive industry technician working in sectors such as light vehicle or motorcycle maintenance, roadside assistance, accident repair, auto glazing, parts distribution or customer service, ATA is suitable for you. To achieve ATA accreditation, you must pass a series of practical assessments and an online test at an approved centre.   Coleg Gwent has two well-established ATA Assessment Centres:

These centres have some of the best facilities anywhere in the country, including a body shop, prep room, spray booth and engineering workshops as well as highly qualified and experienced staff to help you through the assessment process.   For more information please call 01495 333375 (Crosskeys Campus) or 01633 466001 (City of Newport Campus) or email ata@coleggwent.ac.uk    Download a list of our ATA short courses available here.
